The Classic Everest Base Camp trek begins with an exhilarating flight from Kathmandu to Lukla 2840m and then a trek to Phakding with your first snow capped views of Kusum Kangru 6367m and Thamserku 6608m. En route to the vibrant town of Namche Bazaar you will catch a glimpse of Everest 8848m, the Nuptse ridge 7879m and Lhotse 8501m. Your acclimatisation day spent at Namche Bazaar will give you the further chance to see Everest by taking a short walk up to the Everest View Hotel. You can also spend this day exploring the curios of the Tibetan market stalls. During your next trekking day to Deboche you will stop at Tengboche to visit the largest monastery in Nepal. Then your journey will take you across the river and over to Dingboche.

Another acclimatisation walk here will provide you with impressive views of Ama Dablam 6856m, Island Peak 6189m, Makalu 8462m and Peak 38. From Dingboche you will trek to Loboche via Thukla along side the Khumbu Glacier and magnificent views of Pokalde 5806m, Taboche 6367m, Cholatse 6335m, Loboche East 6119m and Pumori 7165m. Next stop is Gorak Shep 5188m, the expedition base camp of Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. Then you will continue on to the present Everest Base Camp 5347m. From Gorak Shep it is also possible to trek up Kallapattar 5546m the next morning for a sunrise panorama. The remainder of the trek continues back down to Lukla with a diversion to Pherice.
