Tailor Made Trekking was set up in the belief that our trekking holidays and expeditions should be based on a love of our natural environment and a respectful, ethical relationship with everyone involved. Designing your trek or expedition: We can design your trek in the Lake District, the Peak District, Wales, Scotland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Nepal, Tanzania, Peru and on the Great Wall of China and can advise you on the best time of year for trekking at each destination. All of our treks are led by qualified International Mountain Leaders (BAIML/UIMLA) which means that we can offer high alpine pass routes - as well as valley and forest treks - and can lead treks in the middle mountains worldwide. The remit of the IML award allows us to lead groups in mountainous terrains that do not require client use of crampons or ice axes. So please note that leading glacial crossings and via ferrata are beyond our remit. However if you want your trek to include climbing, the use of ice axes or crampons or crossing a glacier, we will employ a qualified Alpine Guide (UAIGM) for you by special arrangement.
Special interests: It's never fun trudging along just looking at the feet of the person in front, so why not let us know what your special interests are and we will include them in your trekking holiday! Here's a few ideas: flora and fauna, geology, waterfalls, lakes, mountaineering history, wine and local cuisine, painting, drawing, photography. Alternatively if you feel that you may need a rest day during your trek, we can organise some activities for you.
Personal and social development: A lot of groups have benefited from our team building, problem solving and leadership activities. We can facilitate a program of ice-breakers, initiatives and tasks whilst trekking, to enable transferable experiential learning within the group members. We can also instruct hard skills such as navigation and orienteering.
Flights: If you would like a trekking holiday outside of the UK, to save you from searching the internet for hours, we can recommend a travel agent to book your flights for you. But if you would rather book you own flight, that's OK too: we can design you a 'land only' itinerary.
Airport and luggage transfers: We can arrange airport transfers and for your luggage to be moved between accommodation venues. This will save you the hassle of going on public transport with your luggage or carrying heavy loads on your back whilst trekking.
Accommodation: Whether you fancy a hotel, mountain refuge, bed and breakfast, dormitory or chalet, we have a long list of accommodation for you to choose from. You can also trek from one property to another during your holiday. Just let us know what you would like.
Insurance: We do not provide insurance but we can suggest suitable agents. Please note it is compulsory to have insurance that covers trekking or expedition activities, repatriation and helicopter evacuation. This is a non-negotiable requirement of our Terms & Conditions.
