Our trekkers; Jan, Lyn and Paula from the UK, donated 250US$ each towards starting up a library in the village school of Singla in the Manaslu region of Nepal. From this donation shelves were built and books bought in Kathmandu and transported to the village. It took 5 days to trek to the village of Singla, 3 of which were strenuous uphill climbs. The trekker's efforts were much appreciated by the locals who held a special opening ceremony for them.

Our client is planning an ascent of Aconcagua 6962m, in January 2010 and came to Tailor Made Trekking for some winter skills training in Chamonix, with a UIAGM guide.

This was Chris's first experience of walking in the mountains for which he had plenty of determination to reach the top of the Old Man of Coniston on Saturday. The Gran Paradiso summit attempt was certainly one of our most exciting Tailor Made Treks to date. Six days previous to our attempt the Gran Paradiso region had about about 25cm of snow at 2700m! Gran Paradiso is 4061m! The weather was quite extraordinary for this time of year as September normally brings more stable weather with less afternoon thunderstorms.
