Our walk started at a carpark in Sudbury and as soon as we stepped out of the car it started to snow! The walk had been organised by the Cambridge Walking Club. We were not deterred by the snow and started our walk along the old railway line. Crossing a meadow and then through some housing estates until we found the Stour Valley pathway. This trail took us up and across many muddy arable fields until we reached Henny village church. This church had a beautiful gateway and spire.

On passing through the village we continued our way along this long distance pathway and had a stop for lunch on the slopes of a field. Fortunately the snow had not settled and the sun had come out.
On reaching the village of Lamarsh we came across many traditional Suffolk houses and another beautiful church. The best house in this village however was the free house where we took a well earnt rest and a beer! There were some interesting characters in this pub, some of whom got a bit too close for comfort!

After a short stop we continued to our final destination the village of Bures. Again this presented brightly coloured traditional houses. Unfortunately we had just missed the hourly train back to Sudbury so we decided to visit another pub. This one was decorated with olld shire horse tack.

Before long it was time to take the train, which took 10 minutes to return to the start of a 4 and a half hour walk.
