Winter Skills Training
If you've booked yourself on a technical mountain ascent and need to brush up on your winter skills we can arrange a training course for you, with a highly qualified IFMGA guide. Below is a sample programme based in Chamonix, however we can arrange courses in the country of your choice.

Day 1: The day will be spent training on the Mer de Glace (glacier). This is accessed via the Montenvers mountain railway and a 45 minute approach.  The descent onto the glacier involves steep ladders.
 
Skills taught:
  • Crampon and ice axe technique
  • Roping up for glacier travel
  • Short rope techniques
  • Alpine rock movement
Day 2: The day will be spent on the Italian Valley Blanche accessed by the Hellbronner cable car.
 
Skills taught:
  • Fixed rope techniques
  • Crevasse rescue
  • Snow, ice and rock anchors
  • Prussik and self rescue
  • Expedition tips

Waterproof Jacket
Overtrousers
Rucsac 35 - 45l .
Rigid Mountaineering Boots
Socks Warm
Gaiters
Long Sleeve top
Fleece mid layer
Mountain Trousers
Thin Gloves
Warm Ski Type Gloves
Warm Hat  must fit under a helmet.
Spare Fleece or other warm layer
Water Container at least 1 litre.
Personal medications 
Sun Glasses (CE rated 3 or 4).
Sun cream (factor 15+).
Harness + locking karabiner
2 prussik loops
Long sling
Climbing Helmet 
Crampons with antiball plates.
Ice Axe classic type for intro mountaineering.
